Nearly 5,000 homes, businesses without power in Central Virginia after storms
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 5,000 homes and businesses remain without power in Central Virginia Wednesday morning following storms on Tuesday.
Severe storms hit Central Virginia on Tuesday, July 1, bringing high-speed winds and heavy downpours to the area.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, about 4,840 homes and businesses in Central Virginia were without power. This includes outages in the following localities:
- Richmond: 1,251 homes and businesses without power
- Henrico County: 958 homes and businesses without power
- Chesterfield County: 108 homes and businesses without power
- Hanover County: 459 homes and businesses without power
- Hopewell: 577 homes and businesses without power
- Prince George County: 817 homes and businesses without power
- Petersburg: 502 homes and businesses without power
- Goochland County: 168 homes and businesses without power
At one point Tuesday evening, over 13,000 homes and businesses had no power — with more than 7,000 of those buildings located in Richmond.
