Officials provide construction update on Fox Elementary, Richmond High School for the Arts
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Public School officials celebrated construction progress on two schools -- Fox Elementary and Richmond High School for the Arts -- on Monday, Dec. 9. Mayor Levar Stoney, Superintendent Jason Kamras and other officials took a walkthrough inside Fox Elementary's new and improved building. Superintendent Jason Kamras said both projects are a look into future projects for other schools needing repairs. “We're looking at overcrowding in some spaces on the south side where we need to expand, we're excited to put pen to paper on that plan,” Kamras said. “We're grateful that we now have a robust assessment of all our buildings. So, big thanks to Ms. Fox and her team of contractors for putting that together, which now helps us figure out which facilities need it the most.” Stoney also explained why students, parents and faculty have been very patient and deserve the best out of these new buildings. Kamras said there will be about five to six schools that will see future improvements like Fox Elementary and RHSA. Fox Elementary School is expected to open by 2025, while RHSA will finish construction by 2027.
