Over 1,200 Dominion Energy customers were without power in Petersburg
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 1,200 Dominion Energy customers located in the City of Petersburg were without power on Sunday morning as windy showers and coastal flooding hit Virginia.
At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, Dominion Energy’s outage map reported that 1,230 customers were without power in Petersburg.
The morning of Sunday, Oct. 12, a strong coastal system brought rain, wind and coastal flooding to the Central Virginia area, with Petersburg especially hit hard.

This comes a few months after Petersburg residents were forced to leave their homes in July following severe flooding. The city was also hit with a state of emergency after high floodwaters swept through neighborhoods overnight.
All power was restored in the area by 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to Dominion Energy.
