Person injured in fire that damaged Prince George home

PRINCE GEORGE, COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person was injured in a fire that damaged a Prince George County home on Sunday morning.

Just after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, crews with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to a two-story home in the 5400 block of Snow Creek Court for a report of a residential structure fire.

The first firefighters arrived at 3:40 a.m. to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the home. The fire caused "significant structural collapse," officials said.

One person was at the home at the time of the fire. They had minor burns, were treated on scene and released, according to fire officials.

Units from Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services, Colonial Heights Fire, EMS & Emergency Management, Sussex County and Chesterfield County Fire and EMS provided additional response support.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
