PHOTOS: Brush fire sparked on Prince George solar farm

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A brush fire was sparked on a solar farm in Prince George County on Friday, causing heavy smoke in the area.

At about 2:55 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, crews with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to the 3500 block of Rives Road for report of smoke in the area.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke. They then located the source, which was a brush fire on a solar farm.

Additional units were called to the area to assist in putting out the brush fire, which was put out within half an hour.

Off-duty Chesterfield firefighter dead after motorcycle crash

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, crews reported that some vegetation beneath several solar panels appeared to have ignited.
