Officials said no residents were displaced following the fire.
When participating in outdoor burning, officials urged residents to follow these safety precautions:
- Keep the fire small, manageable and away from homes, sheds, vehicles or anything that can burn.
- Clear away dry leaves, grass and other debris around the fire area.
- Avoid burning on windy or very dry days when embers can easily spread.
- Always stay with the fire and keep a garden hose, bucket of water or fire extinguisher close by.
When finished with the fire, officials said to:
- Thoroughly soak the fire, stir the ashes and repeat until everything is cool to touch.
- Not walk away from a fire that is still smoking or glowing.
"Please help keep our community safe by watching your outdoor fires at all times, keeping children and pets at a safe distance, and never burning trash, plastics, or treated wood," officials said in the post. "Your care and attention can prevent brush fires, protect your neighbors, and reduce the risk of emergencies."
