Potential threat against Virginia State University prompts increased police presence

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Following an "unconfirmed potential threat" against Virginia State University, authorities said there will be an increased police presence on campus. According to the university, Virginia State University Police received the threat on Thursday, Dec. 19. "While the threat may not be credible, you will see a large presence of law enforcement officers on campus to ensure the safety of our community," said a university spokesperson. The university encourages all faculty, staff and students to stay indoors until further notice and avoid unnecessary travel on campus. Anyone who notices suspicious or criminal activities or other emergencies on the campus is asked to call Virginia State University Police at 804-524-5411.
