Prince George firefighters free worker trapped in heavy machinery
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A worker was airlifted to a hospital after Prince George County firefighters freed them from heavy machinery.
At about 4:25 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, firefighters with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to the 4800 block of Thunder Road for reports of a worker trapped in heavy machinery.
When they arrived, they found a worker whose leg had been pinned in a piece of heavy equipment.

Firefighters worked together with on-site work staff to use a hoist system to lift the machinery, freeing the worker.
They were airlifted to a nearby hospital for "urgent medical care." Fire officials did not provide any additional information on the severity of their injuries.

The department expressed gratitude for the on-site staff and the assistance they provided to firefighters.
"This rapid and coordinated response between first responders and facility staff ensured the patient was safely removed and given immediate access to advanced medical treatment," fire officials said.
