Richmond water treatment plant faces equipment failure after outage the day before

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities confirmed the water treatment plant that faced an initial power outage on Monday also experienced equipment failure on Tuesday. The department informed 8News that, during the water restoration process that was announced earlier today, "a piece of electrical equipment failed" on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Engineers who were on-site reportedly saw the issue and were able to resolve it, according to the department. There was no information released regarding how this impacts the timeline of restoration, the department said "the process of restoring water service to Richmonders continues apace."
