The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the following areas until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8:

  • Hopewell
  • Petersburg
  • City of Richmond
  • Cumberland County
  • Dinwiddie County
  • Essex County
  • Fluvanna County
  • Goochland County
  • Hanover County
  • Henrico County
  • King and Queen County
  • King William County
  • Lancaster County
  • Louisa County
  • Lunenburg County
  • Middlesex County
  • New Kent County
  • Northumberland County
  • Nottoway County
  • Orange County
  • Powhatan County
  • Prince Edward County
  • Prince George County
  • Richmond County

A severe thunderstorm watch means a severe storm or storms may form, given current and forecasted weather conditions.
