Shannon Taylor receives national support from DCCC in congressional race
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney Shannon Taylor has been added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) "Red to Blue" program during her run for Virginia's First Congressional District.
Taylor announced her campaign for Congress in September, detailing her experience as Henrico County's top prosecutor since 2012, and the first woman elected to the role, as part of her challenge against Republican incumbent Rob Wittman.
As a member of the Red to Blue program, Taylor will receive DCCC investments in her campaign in the form of organizational and fundraising support to help her flip the district blue and take back the House majority, per a release.
“Shannon Taylor is a battle-tested prosecutor whose north star is protecting Virginians against anyone who harms her community. That’s why she’s taking on Rob Wittman. Virginians deserve a leader who will fight for them – that’s what Shannon has done in the courtroom, and it’s what she’ll do in Congress," said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
