Storm sends trees into Henrico homes, knocks out power across county

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Severe storms have knocked trees into homes and taken down power lines in Henrico County on Friday.

Central Virginia is enduring another round of severe storms on Friday, July 18. Heavy rainfall is causing flash floods throughout the region and high winds are knocking down both trees and power lines.

Henrico County has been hit especially hard, with over 5,400 homes and businesses without power as of the time of reporting. An 8News viewer sent in photos of some of the damage she saw in the county, shown below.

A spokesperson for the Henrico County Division of Fire said its crews are responding to several calls about trees into homes and power lines down in the Lakeside area of the county.

"No injuries but a lot of damage and some blocked roads and power outages," he said.

As of 7 p.m. on Friday, the following Lakeside roads are blocked by storm damage:

  • 2100 block of Oakwood Lane
  • 2100 block of Kent Street
  • 2900 Block of Battery Ave
  • 2300 Block of Buckingham Ave
  • 2200 block of Gintet Street
  • 2900 block of Irisdale Ave
