RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – We will see the return of the heat and the humidity, along with thunderstorm chances for the new work week ahead, details below.
Today’s forecast calls for another cool and comfortable morning today under mostly sunny skies, leading to very warm and beautiful afternoon conditions later today under mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s.
Tonight’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies overnight, and comfortable temperatures dipping down into the middle to upper 60s.
Our Monday to kick off the new work week will bring us partly sunny skies, highs in the middle to upper 80s, the humidity levels increasing and the return of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening hours particularly for locations along Interstate 64 and southward tomorrow.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the new work week ahead will all be very similar, with partly sunny skies each day, plenty of heat and humidity to go around, with highs back in the 90s, feels like temperatures around 100 degrees each day and isolated chances for showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening hours.
Any thunderstorms that develop this week on Monday through Friday across Central Virginia will bring the risk of quick heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning and with the coverage this week being isolated, that means it is not washout weather at all and not everyone will see these storms either.
Looking ahead to next weekend, it will be hot and humid across the viewing area, with temperatures rising into the lower to the middle 90s, feels like temperatures around 100 degrees both weekend days and partly sunny to mostly sunny skies expected right now with no chances for showers and thunderstorms next weekend.
LONG RANGE – Beyond 8 days, heading into the week of August 18th, which is the big day back for school starting across Central Virginia, will bring us continued heat and humidity next week.
TRACKING THE TROPICS – The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring two tropical disturbances out in the open Atlantic Ocean. One of these tropical disturbances has a high formation chance out in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean right now.
