‘Those are some real malicious actions’: Colonial Heights neighbors react to 74-year-old woman assaulted
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — Detectives continue to search for leads into an assault of a 74-year-old woman, who was assaulted in Colonial Heights possibly days before she was found. According to the Colonial Heights Police Department, officers responded to a welfare check on the 100 block of Essex Road around 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, for a welfare check and found a 74-year-old woman had been assaulted inside her home. The assault could have happened as long ago as Thursday, Dec. 5. Officials confirm there weren't any signs of forced entry. Neighbors in the area remain shocked and many were reluctant to speak about the assault with 8News -- both on or off camera -- due to the sensitivity of the situation. David Brown, who lives doors down from where neighbors said the incident occurred, said this assault gives him a cold feeling. "Everybody's scared," Brown said.
