Tractor-trailer driver flown to hospital after I-81 crash in Augusta

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Augusta County Fire-Rescue responded to a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 81 northbound early Sunday morning, where a driver had to be flown to the hospital. According to Augusta Fire-Rescue, at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, several units were dispatched to a tractor-trailer crash on I-81 northbound near mile marker 228. When they arrived on scene, they found two tractor-trailers that had collided, with the driver of one still trapped in the vehicle. Multiple different units and agencies worked on scene to remove the driver and give them medical care. The driver was then flown by Aircare 5 to the University of Virginia (UVA) for further treatment.
