Two arrested after shots fired near Petersburg High, schools go on lockdown
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are in custody after shots were fired near Petersburg High School on Tuesday, forcing it and another nearby school to go into lockdown.
The afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 28, shots were fired near Petersburg High's parking lot after dismissal.
Petersburg City Public Schools put both the high school and the nearby Vernon John Middle School into lockdown out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of the students still on campus.
On Friday, Oct. 31, the Petersburg Bureau of Police announced that it was seeking two suspects in connection with this incident: 21-year-old Damarco Evans and 46-year-old Chatese Evans.

Two days later, on Sunday, Nov. 2, police said that these two suspects had been located and taken into custody.
Damarco Evans faces four charges, including shooting at a school building, discharging a fiearm, reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds.
Chatese Evans has been charged with obstruction of justice.
Both suspects are being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond pending their next court appearance.
