Vehicle in high water in Chesterfield due to flash flooding

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A vehicle was stuck in high water in Chesterfield County on Sunday afternoon following severe flash flooding across Central Virginia.

On Sunday, July 13, passengers were able to get out of the vehicle stuck in high water at Ware Bottom Spring Road before crews from Chesterfield Fire and EMS arrived.

Severe flash flooding resulted in 2-3 inches of rain across the Richmond area.

According to a spokesperson with Chesterfield Fire and EMS, this area is "prone to flooding during heavy rain."

The spokesperson added that there are signs posted warning people that it floods in the area.
