HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- After a man was caught on multiple surveillance cameras allegedly stealing jewelry from an elderly woman's home in Hanover County, the sheriff's office is investigating.

On July 30, deputies with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded to the 9100 block of Whetstone Road for a reported larceny.

Deputies reportedly spoke with the family of an elderly woman who indicated that an unidentified white man and white woman came up to her home and started a conversation with her.

Officials said the man asked to use the bathroom and was given access to the home. He reportedly went straight to her bedroom, put on gloves and began rummaging through her belongings before taking items from a jewelry box.

While the man was inside, the woman reportedly sat outside and spoke to the elderly victim to keep her occupied.

The value of the items taken has not yet been determined. The suspects are believed to be connected with a black pick-up pulling a black utility trailer.
