VIDEO: Raccoon drunkenly waddles through Virginia ABC store in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The story of a raccoon breaking into a Virginia ABC store in Hanover County and passing out drunk in its bathroom garnered national attention -- and now, there's video of this tipsy caper.
The morning of Saturday, Nov. 29, officer Samantha Martin with Hanover County Animal Protection responded to an unusual call out of the Ashland ABC store.
According to officials, a raccoon broke into the store the night before. Once inside, he smashed dozens of bottles and ransacked several shelves.
The animal became intoxicated and ultimately collapsed in the store's bathroom.

On Wednesday, Dec. 3, Virginia ABC released surveillance footage of the incident -- which Hanover officials had previously warned may not exist due to the raccoon taking out security cameras when he dropped through the store's ceiling.

In the video, you can see the raccoon in one of the store's aisles, drunkenly swaying as he steps through smashed bottles and puddles of alcohol.

Thankfully, the little guy was able to recover and, after he slept off his bad decisions, Hanover officials released him back into the wild.
According to Virginia ABC, 14 bottles of spirits were damaged by the raccoon during its drunken stupor. They were worth a combined total of about $250.
