West Virginian dies in I-295 crash in Henrico County

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person from West Virginia died in a crash on Interstate 295 North in Henrico County early Monday morning.

The crash occurred at 4:14 a.m. on Monday, May 19, on I-295 North near the exit onto Woodman Road, according to Virginia State Police.

A Chevrolet Impala was heading north on I-295 when police said it ran off the right side of the interstate, hitting a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the shoulder of the interstate.

A passenger in the Impala, who was identified by police as Trequan Chandler of West Virginia, died at the scene. Police were unable to identify Chandler's age.

Officials continue to investigate.
