Where can you safely dispose of unused medication in Virginia?

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police (VSP) recently released a search tool to help Virginia residents locate drug take-backs that will be happening throughout the state at the end of April.

On Saturday, April 26 -- the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day -- from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., multiple police departments across Virginia will be hosting events that offer residents a safe and question-free opportunity to get rid of unwanted or unused medication.

By clicking here, potential participants can search by zip code, county or city to find the drug take-back event closest to them. Up to 13 events are being hosted within a 25-mile radius of the City of Richmond alone.

Make sure to check the websites or social media of the offices that are hosting whichever take-back event you plan to attend -- as different locations may accept different medications.
