19-year-old Quinton man sentenced to 19 years for meth distribution, firearm offenses
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 30-year-old Quinton man was sentenced on Monday to 19 years in prison following a methamphetamine distribution and firearm investigation.
On Monday, Feb. 23, 30-year-old Anthony Paul Ali, Jr., of Quinton, was sentenced to 19 years of active incarceration with an additional 31 years suspended after pleading guilty to methamphetamine distribution and firearms offenses, per a social post from New Kent County Sheriff's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, Ali was convicted of distributing 10 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a non-violent convicted felon and possession of a firearm while committing distribution or possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
As part of the plea agreement, one additional charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon was nolle prossed, or dismissed in this particular investigation, the sheriff's office said.
The guilty plea and sentencing stem from a joint investigation into the methamphetamine distribution conducted by members of the New Kent Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police Twin Rivers Drug Task Force.
On July 15, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Ali’s home in New Kent's Woodhaven Shores subdivision. During the execution of the search warrant of both Ali's home and vehicle, investigators seized the following:
- Over 100 grams of methamphetamine
- $5,156 in U.S. currency
- 11 firearms
- Firearms accessories
- Multiple calibers of ammunition
- Two ballistic vests
"This investigation highlights the continued collaboration between local and state law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution of illegal narcotics and the associated presence of firearms in our communities," the sheriff's office wrote in the post. "The New Kent Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the citizens of New Kent County and aggressively pursuing those who distribute illegal drugs and endanger public safety."
