30-year-old missing man found dead in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 30-year-old man has been identified as the man who was found dead in Richmond's Southside, just days after he was reported missing earlier in July.

On Thursday, July 17, officers with the Richmond Police Department identified 30-year-old Quamel Washington as the man who died in the 700 block of Hull Street on Monday, July 14.

Officers were called to the residence at 1:37 p.m. for a report of a person down.

When they arrived, officers found Washington down and unresponsive in a grassy area of a vacant lot. He died at the scene.

Three days prior, Richmond Police issued a missing person report for Washington, after the report was filed by his family on Wednesday, July 9. He had last been seen on Monday, July 7.

Detectives have not ruled out foul play. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
