40-year-old Richmond woman identified as person shot, killed in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The person who was shot and killed on Saturday, July 12, in Chesterfield County has been identified as a 40-year-old Richmond woman.

Forty-year-old Jessica D. Wooten, of Richmond, has been identified as the victim in Saturday's shooting in Chesterfield County.

The shooting occurred at 2:53 a.m., and according to the Chesterfield County Police Department, when officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital, where she died shortly after.

As police continue to investigate the shooting, they say the investigation indicates that Wooten, another woman and a man were involved in an altercation at the location, during which Wooten was shot.

According to police, all three people who were involved know each other.
