Chesterfield Public Library to host sessions for kindergarteners, pre-K kids to practice getting on and off school bus
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County Public Library is hosting sessions where pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students can practice getting on and off a real school bus and learn about bus safety. The event will feature a bilingual driver.
"My First School Bus" will be hosted by Chesterfield Public Library at multiple locations over the course of several sessions.
The program is held annually and gives pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students a chance to practice getting on and off a real school bus while learning about school bus safety.
Each session will have a bus with accessibility equipment and a bus driver who also speaks Spanish.
Organizers said all rising pre-K and kindergarten students are welcome to participate in the information session portion of the program.
Only rising Chesterfield County Public Schools students will be allowed to board the bus. Children in other school systems may participate in the presentation part of the program, but may not board the school bus.
All nine open Chesterfield Public Library locations will host additional "My First School Bus" sessions until July 25. Sessions are offered on weekday mornings and evenings to accommodate a variety of schedules.
