Family with children, dog without a home after Chesterfield house fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An adult, three children and their dog are without a home after a severe house fire in Chesterfield County on Wednesday. At 4:21 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, crews with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to the 9900 block of Peacefield Lane for a report of a structure fire. When they arrived, firefighters found a two-story home engulfed in heavy fire. According to fire officials, crews had the fire put out in just under an hour. They are being assisted by the Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is believed to have started in the garage and then spread to the home.
