Missing man reportedly taken by ICE agents in Richmond’s Southwood neighborhood

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man who was reported missing to police in Richmond was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

On Wednesday, July 30, the Richmond Police Department (RPD) was dispatched to the 1500 block of Clarkson Road for reports of a missing man.

Police arrived at the neighborhood at 7:03 a.m. and found ICE agents operating in the area of the Southwood neighborhood, just off of Hull Street Road.

According to RPD, they spoke with ICE agents and confirmed that the missing individual was the same individual taken into ICE custody.

Police contacted the individual who initially reported the missing man to "advise that the male was in federal custody."

The Richmond Police Department has stated, "RPD did not participate in the activity of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as is standard practice for the Richmond Police Department."
