Multiple street closures coming to Richmond’s Southampton area

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Multiple streets in Richmond's Southampton area will be closed for three weeks due to road work.

According to the City of Richmond's Department of Public Works, there will be multiple street closures in the Southampton area starting Thursday, April 24 and ending Friday, May 16. These closures will be in place daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., per the department.

The closures will take place in the following areas:

  • Rustic Road, between Oakleaf Road and Hickory Road
  • Elm Road, between Oakleaf Road and North Huguenot Road
  • Waxford Road, between North Huguenot Road and Dead End
  • Hickory Road, between Cherokee Road and Chippenham Road
  • Southampton Road, between Cherokee Road and Burgundy Road
  • Collingbourne Road, between Cherokee Road and Burgundy Road
  • Arklow Road, between Elm Road and Waxford Road
  • Burgundy Road, from North Huguenot Road and Dead End
  • Old Holly Road, from Hickory Road and Dead End
  • Oakleaf Road, between Old Holly Road and Cherokee Road
  • Beechmont Road, between Cherokee Road and Dead End.

DPW said the upcoming street closures are due to road resurfacing. As a result, some travel lanes may be closed temporarily.
