Nearly $1 million in illegal narcotics seized across Virginia in just one week: VSP

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly $1 million worth of illegal narcotics were seized across Virginia in just one week as part of ongoing crime suppression efforts.
In partnership with local and federal agencies, Virginia State Police continues to carry out crime suppression operations throughout the Commonwealth. On Monday, Sept. 29, the agency released its weekly report for activities carried out between Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Tuesday, Sept. 23.
During that 7-day period, state troopers seized more than 100 pounds of illegal narcotics. This included nearly 90 pounds of marijuana, over 11 pounds of cocaine, 3.3 pounds of psilocybin, 3.1 pounds of methamphetamine, 1.1 ounces of fentanyl, 0.4 ounces of heroine and 0.1 ounces of crack cocaine.
Additionally, 57 fentanyl pills, 2 MDMA pills and 50 THC vapes were recovered, as well as $690,538 in U.S. currency.

The denied revenue of these seized narcotics is estimated to be about $957,529, the agency said.
State troopers also confiscated 13 firearms valued at about $7,500.
"The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime," state police said. "By working in close collaboration with local, state and federal agencies, law enforcement continues to disrupt criminal enterprises and safeguard communities."
