Richmond to hold meeting on project meant to clean up James River
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond officials are sharing details on a plan to make the James River cleaner during an upcoming virtual meeting.
At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, the city's Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will hold a virtual meeting to inform the public about its Canoe Run Park Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Project.
As the name would imply, the site for this project is Canoe Run Park, located off W. 22nd Street and very near the James River.

Once implemented, this project is estimated to reduce sewer overflows into the James River by about 83 million gallons annually.
"This project supports Richmond’s efforts to improve water quality, reduce flood risk and protect public health and the environment for all Virginians," the city said.
City residents, visitors and stakeholders are all welcome to attend to learn more about the plan, the related construction and the impacts this work will have on the community.
