Richmond’s newest cat café to open in mid-August
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Purrfect Bean, soon to be Richmond's newest cat café, will have its grand opening in mid-August.
According to a social media post by the business, The Purrfect Bean will have its grand opening on Friday, Aug. 15. The space is located at 214 North Lombardy St., which was formerly home to Westray's Finest Ice Cream.
The café is located on the ground level, where visitors can grab a coffee or tea, and the Cat Lounge can be found upstairs, where patrons can spend time with adoptable cats.
Cat Lounge and adoptions
Folks can book visits to the café's Cat Lounge for $20 on weekdays and $25 on weekends. Sessions are 50 minutes and must be booked online in advance.
Those who only wish to spend time in the café can do so anytime during open hours, as it is separate from the Cat Lounge.
Cats are adoptable through Purring Hearts VA, a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue located in Richmond.
The Purrfect Bean said Purring Hearts VA prioritizes rescuing vulnerable cats and works with shelters in the Richmond area to take in cats that are in danger of euthanasia or that would do poorly in the environment of an animal shelter.
After visiting with cats at the café, those who are interested in adopting can visit Purring Hearts VA's website to find more information and fill out an adoption application.
Menu and hours
As for the café's menu, patrons will be able to grab coffee staples, like a latte, cold brew, drip coffee, cappuccino or an Americano, as well as loose leaf teas served cold or hot, including earl grey, black tea and jasmine. Housemade syrups and alternative milk options are available.
The café will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Its Cat Lounge will also be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
