Threat prompts increased law enforcement at all Goochland County Public Schools

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A threat toward Goochland Middle School prompted the Goochland County Sheriff's Office to increase law enforcement presence at all schools Friday. Authorities are still investigating the threat. Though Goochland Middle School was reportedly the target of this threat, the sheriff's office still decided to increase law enforcement presence at all Goochland schools on Friday, Dec. 20.   In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said it heard about the threat after texts and social media posts between students circulated. Officials said in the post that there is no credible evidence to corroborate this threat, but it's still being taken seriously.   The sheriff's office is working with the Goochland County Public School administration to find the source of the threat. In the meantime, there will be additional deputies present at all Goochland schools on Friday out of an abundance of caution.    Depending on the nature of the threat, you could be charged with a felony, fined thousands of dollars and even serve time in prison. It’s not just a state crime, it’s a federal crime.  If you have any information, the sheriff's office asks that you call 804-556-5349.
