Two people charged in connection to deadly Henrico crash that killed 75-year-old woman
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County Police Division has arrested and charged two people in connection to a deadly crash that occurred along East Laburnum Avenue in November. According to Henrico Police, 20-year-old Lamontae Boomer, of Henrico, and 50-year-old Timothy Gray, of Mechanicsville, have been charged with reckless driving that caused injury to another in connection to a deadly Nov. 21 crash along East Laburnum Avenue. At 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, Henrico Police and Henrico Fire responded to the intersection of East Laburnum Avenue and Pemberton Avenue for the report of a crash. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two vehicles off the roadway as a result of the collision, with one of the vehicles overturned. According to police, three people were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, where the passenger of one vehicle, identified as 75-year-old Mary Arlene Battle, of Henrico, later died due to her injuries on Sunday, Dec. 1. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that two vehicles, a Toyota Camry and a Buick Encore, were driving over the speed limit while traveling eastbound on East Laburnum Avenue when the Buick Encore hit a third vehicle, a Honda Ridgeline, while turning onto Pemberton Avenue. According to police, the investigation indicates Boomer was driving the Buick Encore when he struck the Honda Ridgeline that was attempting a left turn onto Pemberton Avenue. Additional charges are pending for both Boomer and Gray, according to authorities.
