‘Waverly Two’ celebrated their freedom with Richmond community during ‘Freedom brunch’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond community welcomed the "Waverly Two" with open arms as they celebrated their freedom through a brunch in the RVA community this weekend.
8News has followed the Waverly Two case closely after Terence Richardson and Ferrone Claiborne were arrested and charged after the 1998 murder of a Waverly officer.

The two were sentenced to life in prison and spent two decades in prison although they were found not guilty.
However, on Saturday July 19, Richardson and Claiborne celebrated their freedom with a brunch surrounded by community and loved ones.
"I knew one day we would you know, I think that's what really kept me and Ferrone fighting all those years, knowing that we was innocent," Richardson said.
Richardson and Claiborne were granted clemency earlier this year by Former President Joe Biden.
