‘You’re in our thoughts’: Franklin Military Academy principal hit by driver, RPS confirms
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The principal of Franklin Military Academy was hit by a driver earlier this month, the Richmond Public Schools (RPS) Superintendent Jason Kamras confirmed.
At about 8:55 p.m. on Monday, March 9, officers were called to the 1400 block of Blakemore Road, near Lucille Brown Middle School, for a report of an accident involving a pedestrian.
Officers arrived and located a man who was hit by a vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries considered to be non-life-threatening.
In a message sent to the RPS community, Kamras confirmed that Col. David Hudson, the principal of Franklin Military Academy, was the man who was hit that evening.
Kamras shared the following statement with 8News:
"Last but certainly not least, we’re wishing Col. Hudson, the principal of Franklin Military Academy, a speedy recovery after he was struck by a vehicle last week. You’re in our thoughts, sir." Jason Kamras, RPS Superintendent
According to police, the driver was traveling south on Westover Drive and was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Blakemore Road when Hudson was hit in the crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
