Police: Father charged after abducting baby from mother during armed Prince George home invasion
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 21-year-old father and another man are facing several charges after police said the 21-year-old abducted his one-week-old baby from the mother's home at gunpoint, and fled.
In the very early hours on Tuesday, March 17, officers with the Prince George County Police Department responded to the 100 block of Aspen Court.
Police reportedly determined that 21-year-old Aaron D. Williams, Jr. of Colonial Heights, -- the child's father -- shot through a glass door of a home to force entry, took the one-week-old baby from the mother at gunpoint, and fled.
Officers reportedly intercepted the vehicle as it was leaving the neighborhood. Two semi-automatic pistols, one of which police said was stolen, were recovered.
According to officials, Williams was found in the vehicle with the baby. Police described Williams as being "extremely uncooperative," and said he resisted commands before being arrested.
Police said Prince George County Fire and EMS evaluated the baby, who was found to be unharmed before being returned back to the mother. Officials said Child Protective Services was notified.
Williams faces twelve charges, including abduction, burglary, shooting an occupied dwelling, child neglect, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, domestic assault, trespassing, reckless handling of a firearm, drunk in public, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.
In addition, officials said a second suspect, 22-year-old Delvinette Stokes, of Richmond, was charged with abduction, concealed firearm, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied dwelling, possession of a stolen firearm and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Officials continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Prince George County Police Department at 804-733-2773.
