Richmond nonprofit to host museum crawl, community conversation

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from a special guest on Monday to talk about two upcoming events -- a community conversation and a museum crawl -- hosted by the Richmond nonprofit, Initiatives of Change USA.
8News anchor Madison Moore was joined by Allan Charles-Chipman, executive director for Initiatives of Change USA, about what people can expect.
"We really wanted to look back and have people understand that throughout our history, and especially as the city of Richmond, there have been hard times in our history, but there have also been changemakers that have stood up and encouraged and contributed what they can to help build the unity and thriving of our society," Charles-Chipman said.
The community conversation will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Hippodrome Theater in Jackson Ward from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and will also honor community changemakers like Dr. Ram Bhagat, Tanya Gonzalez and more.
The 5th Annual Intersecting History Museum Crawl will take place on Sunday, Sept. 28, from noon to 5 p.m., beginning at the American Civil War Museum and ending at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, including several popular museums throughout the Richmond area.
